High Plains Helping Hands  was supported on May 25th by GOLDEN FLAME® HOT WINGS. Golden Flame supports our community with Give back Wednesdays.

GOLDEN FLAME® HOT WINGS franchisees and crew members desire to make a difference in our communities by being active in their local schools, sports and civic associations and are proud to “give back” to the people in the neighborhoods that are near and dear to them. GOLDEN FLAME® HOT WINGS desire to be one of the many mentors/influencers that play a role in the positive development of the next generation of leaders.

Boy Scout Food Drive – April 23rd 2016

Boy Scout Troop 149 of Falcon delivered 13,050 lbs of food on April 23rd 2016. Truck loads of food collected from our community were dropped off at High Plains Helping Hands. Over 45 volunteers gave their time from 11pm-4pm to help sort, stack and move the creates of food to the storage area. HPHH wishes to thank our volunteers and the generosity of Boy Scout Troup 149 and our neighboring community.

First Annual Fundraising Banquet – On October 17, 2015 we held our first annual fundraising banquet at Focus on the Family. The goal was to reach new donors and invite them for a nice evening to learn more about who we serve and what we do. The night was a great success!  There were just over 100 people in attendance. Planning is underway for 2016.

Stock the Pantry Poker Run – In 2015, the American Legion Riders Post #2008 held the first annual Stock the Pantry Poker Run in Black Forest. We raised over $1,200 and 253 pounds of food from this fun event and look forward to doing it again in 2016!

Oklahoma Baptist University Soccer Team

Oklahoma Baptist University 030web

The Oklahoma Baptist University Soccer Team came to our area just in time to lend us a helping hand in moving many, many heavy boxes of food from one area of the building to another. The 26 girls, 2 coaches, and the head coach’s wife and son worked so hard on August 11 to do this heavy work for us. We truly appreciated having their youth, energy, and muscle to perform this task. What a blessing that they were in Colorado Springs at the time when this needed to be accomplished and for their willingness to do it.   Thanks so much, OBU Soccer Team!!![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
